I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I am extending mine thanks to the President’s Day holiday.  If you are lucky enough to have the day off today, I hope you enjoy your extra day of rest.  If you do have to work, make it a good one and I’ll see you back here tomorrow for sure.

Hi everyone.  I am extending my weekend in observance of Martin Luther King Day.  Who am I kidding, I just wanted a day off.  But I’ll be back tomorrow so enjoy the holiday if you are lucky enough to have the day off.  If not, well, thanks for doing that thing you do.  See you tomorrow.

I had a whole post planned for today but my Wordpress has gone plain crazy. As I type this, I can’t even see the words so I am just typing onto what looks like a blank screen. a blank screen. It’s kind of crazy and it looks like I will now have to spend my whole weekend trying to figure out what the heck is going on. I wonder if my buddy RC is doing anything this weekend.

Anyway, I hope that you have a great weekend filled with lots of fun and no blog issues to resolve.

-Peace

Hey everyone, I’m feeling a little under the weather so my post for today is going to be a little delayed.  Fear not, there is no H1N1 running through my veins, just a bad case of sinuses and a lot of Sudafed.  Check back later in the afternoon for my regular post.

Don’t worry, it wasn’t really an important one to anyone but myself.  I was looking back at my original blog, which is still available for viewing at Blogger, and I noticed that my very first blog post occurred way back on July 29th of 2005.  It’s hard to believe that I have been doing this for four years now.  It’s also very funny to see how the blog has evolved from a space where I would post a couple of pictures now and then to what it is today.

Okay, I’m not really sure exactly what it is today but I must be doing something right since I have 3500 subscribers and thousands of additional visitors every day.  I think part of that comes from the fact that I try to bring you relevant information every M-F, which is not always an easy thing to do when it’s 1AM and your staring at a blank screen. But I wouldn’t do it if I didn’t enjoy writing it.  The blog has also given me the chance to meet a ton of great people from all walks of life with different pursuits and hobbies that all seem to center around photography and Photoshop.  I think I have learned as much from you as you have from me and I love that.

So anyway, if you are super-bored one day and want to take a trip down my memory lane, check out my original blog, Jeff’s Photo Gallery.  Who knows, you just might find something useful there.

I think I owe myself an anniversary present. ;-)

Once again, my weekend flew by too fast and my to do list just seems to get longer and longer.  Here’s a couple of items from the list of things I did happen to get to.

Cooliris for my photoblog – I have been a huge fan of Cooliris ever since it was called PicLens.  It’s kind of like a cool plug-in for your web browser that let’s you view web-based images in a whole new way.  If the web page has a media RSS feed, Cooliris will take all of the images from the feed and build a photowall where you can quickly zip though all of the images and zoom in for a better look at the ones you want to see.  It not only works with images but video as well.  Yesterday I added a media RSS feed to my photoblog, Per Diem Pixels, and now all of my images from the blog can be viewed via the Cooliris photowall.  If you don’t already have it, you can download Cooliris for your browser here.  It’s available for Explorer, Firefox, and Safari on PC and Mac.

Learning the SB-900 – It’s not news that the newest flash in the Nikon CLS line is the SB-900.  I have played with it a bit but I just haven’t had time to really sit down and learn the ins and outs of the flash.  I guess I could have pulled out the owners manual and paged through the 100+ pages to find out how all the new controls and features work but let’s face it, I’m a guy so reading manuals is definitely out.  Besides, I’m more of a visual learner.  So when I heard that the Wiz of Wireless SB flashes, Joe McNally, had a new class on Kelby Training I set aside some time to learn from the Master.  I learned most of what I know about the SB800 from Joe so who better to school me on the SB-900.  As usual, Joe’s class was excellent.  He doesn’t rush through any of the instruction as he talks about the differences between the old flash and the new.  Then he runs through multiple photo sessions where he moves from single flash to multiple flashes, each with multiple variations.  If you are in to wireless flash, this one class would be well worth the price of a year of Kelby Online training.

More Goodies for the Photowalk – Friday I told you that I have a sponsor for the Boston Photowalk, BorrowLenses.com.  Well, I talked to my buddy Scott Kelby and those good folks over at NAPP have arranged to add a few more goodies into the prize pool.  No details yet but I’m pretty sure it will be sweet.  If you haven’t checked out the photowalk details, click here, and if you are already planning on joining us, make sure you stop by and join the Flickr group.
