Halo Removal Tutorial

Welcome to a Friday edition of PhotoWalkPro tutorials.  I don’t normally do a tutorial on Friday but I have been meaning to show this for a little while and just kept getting sidetracked.  I would like to claim this technique as my own but I first learned it from Ben Wilmore and I have been using it ever since.  The technique I am speaking of is a way to eliminate the annoying little halos that can appear in high contrast areas when you push the Fill Slider in Lightroom or Camera Raw to the extremes.  It’s not even really a halo, more like an extra outline.  Check out the shot below to see what I mean.

So here is the video that steps you through the process of getting rid of those little halo/line things.  Enjoy and have a great weekend.

Nice, quick, and effective technique. You can also do the selection and use the smudge tool for such a small line. In your example, I would have set the mode to darken. Keep up the good work!

Very cool tutorial. Simple, yet very effective. I had heard someone mentioning using the clone tool to eliminate halos, but the key thing is getting the selection right, then things seem to be pretty simple.
