I was at my son’s concert yesterday at the Hylton Center for the Performing Arts and had a little time to walk around and check out some interesting art hanging on the walls. The prints were really nice and were printed on sheets of Birch wood, which gave them a very cool look. The thing that really got me though was the names of the images. It’s not that they were that amazing but they got me thinking that I have not one creative bone in my body when it comes to naming my photos.
So just how important is a creative name for your photos? If you want to get an idea of what I’m talking about, go skim through 500PX.com and check out some of the creative names. Titles like – Transition in Colors, Heaven’s Garden IV, Shade of Pale, A Distant Castle, and on and on. I wish I could be so creative but usually my names are pretty generic like “Valley of Fire“
How’s that for creative, right? But then I started thinking, what is it with the creative names? Why is it even important except to differentiate between different images? Does a creative title automatically add value to an image in the world of art? perhaps it does. The problem is that I’m just not that creative when it comes to verbalizing the deeper esoteric meaning of my images. That’s why I have decided to go a different route and start using completely random titles.
That’s right. I’m going to use a random title generator to make me sound like I am a true artist. Here’s a couple that I am trying on for size.
If you want to give some random title generation a try, click this link and see what you come up with. Who knows, you might just find the perfect name for your next masterpiece.
