Wish you'd had a book on the 5D Mark II Jeff. Took me a little while to get fully comfortable with my new camera, and I always kept my 40D handy. I know, both Canon, but there were some changes both from the body and menu between the two. I know both my cameras now, and it does make life easier.

I can say for a fact, not knowing your gear can be a total bummer. A friend on a recent trip to the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument accidentally reset his focus point on more than 50 photos. I check his camera out and explained how to set the focus point. Willing to bet he's gone through his manual now......

You are absolutely correct. In today's world you have to learn the Technology of everything you use or your Art will suffer. I wish someone would make a fully manual, no bells and whistles camera like my trusty Canon AE1 but they don't. And although I'm not crazy about a DSLR that shoots video, I did that four times in two days with a Nikon D90 I now have. Always read your manual first. Then go buy one of Jeff's books for all the extra goodies!
