I’m heading back home today from Texas but I wanted to get a quick post up while I still have Internet connectivity (thanks Time-Warner for the crappy service at my folks house).  Anyway, as I might have mentioned previously, I was in Texas for my parents 50th wedding anniversary.  They had a big party for just family and a few friends, where they renewed their vows, ate some dinner, and cut some wedding cake.  It was a great event and I am so glad that I could not only be here to share it with them but also photograph it.  My parents are two of the most wonderful people you could ever hope to meet and having them for parents has been a blessing to me.  I just hope I’m around for their second 50.

As for shooting, I generally went with off-camera flashes for the entire party.  For the outside shots such as the one above, I used an SB-800 through an umbrella in TTL mode.  I underexposed in camera by 1/3 stop to get the nice rich color of the sunset and the TTL just brought it on home.  The party was held in a white tent so I took a couple of SB-800s and mounted them near the ceiling of the tent with Justin clamps and then pointed them towards the ceiling to get a great even bounce light.  I was able to get nice soft light from virtually everywhere in the tent so I could just point and shoot.  Now if I could just figure out how to get myself into a few of the pictures.

I have been processing all of my pictures in Lightroom and will then make a wedding album.  I am curious about which albums most wedding photographers are using these days. I have printed several photo books for myself using iPhoto but I wanted something with more of a wedding feel to it this time.  If any of you wedding shooters have any ideas, please send me a comment.  I would love to hear from you.

I’m a big fan of and use, Kiss Wedding Books. http://www.kissweddingbooks.com
They are a little spendy, but are classic and clean leather albums. My favorite part is the “gutterless” 2-page spread layout. Take one image across a spead – gorgeous. I hope that helps.

    Hi,

I’ve used Blurb with the premium paper and logo addition for my last few wedding albums, definately worth the money – I hear they are putting the priced up this weekend if not before…
