With yesterday’s blog hang-ups behind me, it’s time to get rolling on the Friday Wrap-Up.  Let’s kick things off with some photowalk items that I wanted to cover yesterday.

Tick tock, tick tock -

That’s the clock running down on your time to register as a photowalk leader.  If you have been thinking of applying to lead a walk in your city you had better hurry and get over to the registration page before the cut-off day of June 18th.  That’s the close-out day for all city registrations.  This deadline only applies to leading a photowalk, not participating in one.

Am I registered? -

Several people have asked me how they find out if they have been officially registered as a participant for the photowalk that they signed up for.  I spoke to someone at Kelby Training yesterday and they are working on a confirmation email or something along those lines.  Aside from that, try dropping your leader a quick message using the link on the city page.  They have a complete listing of everyone that is registered for their photowalk and can verify your status for you.

Photowalk T-Shirts -

I have heard that the design for the t-shirt is almost finalized so it won’t be long before you will be able to order your own.  The shirts are going to be available for purchase by one of those online custom t-shirt companies and as I understand it, part of the proceeds will go towards the Springs of Hope orphanage in Kenya.

Where’s My City Page? -

The other day someone dropped me a comment to let me know that my city page was no longer in the official City List.  After reassuring them that I had not canceled I checked to see that my photowalk page was still active.  It was and I also found it in the Map View.  Yesterday I went back and checked the City List again and found that my location was back on the list but with a new name.  I’m not sure why it was changed from Chinatown to 7th & H St. but it’s still there nonetheless.  If you are looking for my page you can find it here.

Okay, now on to some Friday News …

Eye-Fi Update -

Last month I wrote a post about the Eye-Fi wireless SD cards.  I was interested in getting some feedback from those of you that had used them and your general opinions.  The responses were mostly positive but the big complaint that I heard over and over again was the lack of support for RAW images.  It seems that even though there were four different flavors of Eye-Fi cards available, they could only transmit JPEG and movie files.  That is until now.  Robert over at DCShutterbugs dropped me a comment to let me know that Eye-Fi has just released a 4GB SDHC card with full RAW file support for $149.99.  You can read more about this new release over at Rob Galbraith’s blog.

Playing it safe -

This past Tuesday I mentioned an email I received from what appeared to be a less than reputable electronics dealer.  If you have questions about a store that you are considering for your next purchase, check out this site that was recommended to me by Henry Posner at B&H Photo called ResellerRating.com.  Simply enter the name of the business into the search field and you will receive an overall rating for that store based on consumer feedback.  It’s a great way to learn from the experience of others.  By the way, B&H received a 9.73 out of 10 for the past 6 month period based on 1607 reviews.  Not too shabby!

Wrapping up with a review -

Finally today, I found another new review of my Canon 50D book over at BlogCritics.org.  This is the most in-depth review I have seen of my book to date with a discussion of each and every chapter.  Of course I was really happy that they gave it a high recommendation.  If you pop over to the site to read the review be sure to check out some of the other reviews on their site.  They have reviews for everything from books to music to politics.  It really is a cool site.

Well, that’s all I have for today.  I will be on the road next week so I might be a bit sporadic with my posts but I will do my best to update daily.  Have a great weekend!
