After taking a big bite of a crow sandwich yesterday, I’ve decided to play it safe and just post pictures of puppies today.
Okay, maybe not. Instead, maybe I’ll just cover some things going on around the world of photography,
On Assignment -
My buddy Rob Jones over at Towner Jones Photography is hosting a very cool contest over the next couple of months called On Assignment. It’s a little different than most contests that just have you enter an image. This unique twist actually lets the entrant select the theme of their own choosing and then enter a series of images to best articulate the subject. So say you really like the city, you might have some street photography mixed with a little architecture. It’s all up to you. I love this concept and am honored that Rob asked me to be one of the judges. For all the information on entering and to get a peek at all the great prizes, check out the Towner Jones contest page.
Searching for a Feed -
Blog feeds are incredibly useful for keeping up with the daily content of your favorite blogs. But what if you want to find new feeds but aren’t sure where to find the blogs that might be of interest? Well that’s where Feedmil comes in. Part Feed Reader, part search engine, Feedmil allows you to enter a search term like photography and then displays a number of page feeds that fit your interest. This is a great way of finding new sites and information that might otherwise have slipped by. Check it out here.
DSLR Remote -
OnOne has developed a new iPhone app that will allow Canon users to remotely trip their cameras through their computer. Your camera will need to be tethered to your wi-fi enabled laptop using the EOS Utility software but then trip and even control your camera remotely using your phone. Check out the details over at Engadget.
Crash Taylor Interviews -
If you aren’t a regular reader of Crash Taylor’s interview, now might be a good time to start. Crash’s newest offering features photographer Michael Grecco. If you ever spend any time checking out the magazine rack at your favorite news stand you have probably seen some of Michael’s work, which often graces the covers of Entertainment Weekly, ESPN, People, Time and others. He has a great style that always seems fresh and the interview gives a nice peek into his world. Make sure you read the interview and check out the great images as well (caution, some brief nudity near the end).
50D Group Shots -
Finally this weekend, if you get a chance, check out the great images being posted over at the Flickr group that was set up for the release of my 50D book. There are about 180 images posted and I’m thrilled to see so much great photography associated with my book. Keep them coming everyone!
Okay, that’s all for this week. If you are celebrating the Memorial Day weekend, be safe, have fun, and don’t forget to take your camera for a walk.

Hey Jeff
So you got something wrong – goes to show that you’re human. After all, no one said that all the learning was a one-way road on this blog, and sometimes that learning flows back to you!
It’s no big deal, and look at all the really useful information that you give to us – for free – almost every day!
It’s easy for people to make cutting comments whilst hiding behind a somewhat anonymous first name and not giving any links to any online publishing that they may do themselves – if they do any at all. Some people need lessons in diplomacy and tact.
Keep on trucking – taste the crow and move on!
And thanks for all the info that you share with us.
cheers
Michele
