20 Million Queries in 24 hours

I hope that I have been able to answer some of the questions/concerns that some of you might have.  This is only going to get bigger and better in the next few weeks leading up to the event.  I already know that the number of cities has surpassed the number from last year in just two days!  I am totally psyched to be a part of it and will be happy to answer any questions you might have about photowalking.  Just leave me a comment and I promise to get back to you.  FYI – I have nothing to do with the web site functionality but will answer questions the best I can.

I got one for ya: I did some snooping on http://worldwidephotowalk.com/ and checked if there was a Cincinnati photowalk in the works (Since I’m in beautiful Dayton, Ohio Columbus, Cinci, Louisville, and Indianapolis are all doable for me). There appears to be a Cincinnati page set up, but not yet approved. Does this mean a Cincinnati photowalk is forthcoming? Cincinnati is my first choice, but I don’t want to wait for Cinci and have other cities fill up, only to find out there will be no Cinci-walk.

I posted this on Scott’s blog too. I’m hoping the answer will be “There will definitely be a Cincinnati photowalk, just keep checking”.

Thanks Jeff, love the site as always.

    Jeff,

Thanks for being part of the 2nd Annual Photowalk. I discovered your blog last year after signing up to lead a walk here in Prescott, AZ. Information here was extremely helpful! This year’s walk will be even better than last year, and last year was a ton of fun!

Been reading you ever since the discovery last year. Keep up the good work.

Jeff…is there anyway to confirm that you have been registered for one of the Photowalks?

I signed up for your DC walk, but it was while the page was looking kind of messed up. I received an email with a login name and password, but nothing that said “Congrats…you are registered for the DC Photowalk”.

    Jeff,

I was able to get in after seeing there were only 6 spots left! Looking forward to the photo walk, should be a lot of great opportunities in Chinatown!

    Thanks to hosting :-)

That should read “thanks for hosting” but my iPhone typing is off today!

How can we change to a different photowalk after we have already signed up. We signed up early and now one is closer to us that we would prefer to do????

Thanks for this. Worldwide Photowalk 2009 is my first, and hopefully won’t be my last. Thanks for sharing so much useful information.

As a leader for the 2009 World Wide Photo Walk, I am wondering how you handle the food/drink after a walk. Today I talked to the restaurant I had been counting on when I signed up for the walk. They said there was no way they could handle 50 separate orders and suggested a pizza buffet with a cash bar. The cash bar is great, but I do not want to be responsible for collecting money for the pizza…nor do I want to get stuck with the bill.

I signed up for the DC photowalk, but it turns out I may be traveling to Los Angeles that week. Can I switch photowalks? How?

What if I never received the account activation email? Also tried emailing the leader this question, and that just lead to an error message.

I signed up in Dallas and got a login and email and have a dashboard (that is blank of.. well pretty mcuh everything.) In fact I was never THAT sure I got signed up since like Les Doerfler I never got any kind of definitive: Thanks for Registering…

Shortly after the Dallas location hit 50 registrations, the page went wonko saying it didn’t exist. Now the page is back, but it’s the regular “The Dallas, TX USA Photo Walk is currently under construction. Please check back later for more information and a chance to register for the walk.”

Does this mean my registration was lost? Will I have to register again?

      Sarah,
I checked the status of both the Dallas photowalks and it seems as though both pages have yet to be updated by their leaders. The photowalk you registered may have had to be deleted for some reason. Perhaps the leader had to back out or something. Anyway, I would keep an eye on the city that you want to register for and check back often to see when it goes live. If, for some reason they had to restart the page, send a message to the leader and see if your name is still in the registration. You can also try sending a message to the Photowalk Support staff http://worldwidephotowalk.com/contact/
