♦ – My buddy Mike Palmer sent me a link to a New York Times Op-Ed video called Sex, Lies and Photoshop.  It centers around a movement by French public health officials and psychiatrists to try and establish laws to make it illegal to promote negative body images and eating disorders.  Included in this would be disclosures by magazines of image retouching for the sake of creating unrealistic portrayals of people.  Very interesting stuff.  You can watch the video here.

♦ – Samsung has a video showing a prototype of their mysterious new NX camera format.  The camera is said to be a hybrid of point-and-shoot and dSLR, much like the Panasonic Lumix GH1.  The video shows a 360° view as the camera spins on a carousel behind glass.  There is no audio and Samsung has yet to divulge much in the way of details xcept that the camera will use an APS-C sensor and will probably have interchangeable lenses.  The video can be found here and here’s a link to a story on PCWorld with a little more detail.

♦ – This week on Crash Taylor Interviews, Crash has a great interview with Scottish born photographer George Weir.  George is a wedding photographer with a flair for the journalistic style of photography.  His images capture the spirit of the wedding with a very human approach.  Be sure to check out this and other inspirational interviews at Photographer Interviews by Crash Taylor.

♦ – Now that Nikon has released the D5000, finding the right Nikon dSLR can be more confusing than ever.  If you really want to get into the nitty gritty of how all the Nikon bodies compare then head to the D5000 page over at Nikon and download their dSLR comparison chart.  This huge four page chart compares the features for 9 Nikon dSLR cameras, from the D3X to the D40.  You can find the PDF file right here. The link to the chart is located in the right-hand side of the page in the Related Links section.

♦ – I found an interesting article over at Fox News called “Gadget Graveyard: 10 Technologies About to Go Extinct“.  A few of the items were not surprising such as VHS and cassette tapes and floppy disks.  There were a few items that I hadn’t thought about but make sense when you think about it, like landline phones and wristwatches.  Click here to check out the entire list.  Write me a comment if you think of anything that you think should be added to the list, I would really be interested in your opinions.

♦ – Finally today, you might have noticed that I put my Twitter feed over in the sidebar of the blog.  If you would liek to follow me on Twitter, you can click here to get to my page and click the “follow” link or just check out my latest tweets in the sidebar.
