I have been looking for a new setup for studio shooting. I don’t want anything overly powerful because I don’t have a huge space to light. I also have been leaning towards a turnkey kit that includes everything from the lights to lightstands to umbrellas. I have found that buying a studio kit can be cheaper in the long run. Well my search just might be over after watching Scott Kelby’s video review of the new Elinchrom BXRI-500 Studio Strobes. The complete kit sells for $1550, with two 500 watt strobes, two 20″ softboxes, two 9′ light stands, the wireless transmitter, and two cases. By the way, did you notice the wireless transmitter? That’s right, the kit actually includes the EL Skyport wireless remote which not only lets you trigger your flash but also make changes to the output without leaving your camera.
I could tell you more but Scott put together a great video review of the entire system that is really worth watching, especially if you are in the market for a great studio kit. Here’s the link to his review. And while you are there, make sure you check out his guest blog today which features the great iconic photographer, Jay Maisel.
