top-10

I’m busy trying to put the last chapters of the 50D book, From Snapshots to Great Shots, to bed so this will be a short post today.  But while I’m on the subject, I got some really cool news the other day.  It seems that my book is in the Top 10 for pre-orders in photography books over at Amazon; number 9 to be exact.  Considering that Joe McNally and Scott Kelby hold 3 of those other 9 spots, I consider myself in some pretty good company.  I am extremely excited about this news and the book in general, which I hope will break the mold on camera specific books; taking them to a whole new level of reader interaction and learning.  Here’s the link to the Amazon Pre-Order page.

Speaking of Scott Kelby, I just found out that he has, for the 5th year running, been recognized as the top-selling computer book author in the U.S.  This isn’t really surprising for the man that I call “The Human Printing Press”.  The thing about my buddy Scott is that he constantly checks the pulse of his readers and then gives them what they want, over and over again.  It’s his attention to his readers, along with his down to Earth writing style and excellent content that keeps these awards coming in year after year.  Congratulations Scott!  By the way, Volume 3 of The Digital Photography Book, Scott’s best selling photography series, is on the list for pre-orders.

Finally today, I just wanted to clarify something about yesterday’s post on Lightroom Camera Calibration profiles.  A question came up about the camera I was using because the list included the D2X Mode 1, 2, and 3.  Here’s the strange thing about that, it doesn’t matter which Nikon camera you are using.  They all use the D2X profiles.  If you are using a Canon, there’s a different list of profiles to choose from.

These are based on the built-in profiles in your camera.  Just head to the Develop module and click on the Camera Calibration panel.  I think if they changed the name of the panel to Camera Presets or something like that, they would get a heck of a lot more use.

That’s all for today.  Have a great Wednesday and I’ll see you back here tomorrow.
