Just a few quick news items today to help you celebrate President’s Day.  Of course that doesn’t mean much to anyone reading this in any country beside the United States but I’m sure you can find something to celebrate, no matter where you happen to call home.

ct-interviews

♦ This week, over at Crash Taylor Interviews, Crash has a fantastic interview with World renowned wedding photographer Jeff Ascough.  Jeff was voted one of the Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World by American Photo magazine.  It’s no small wonder after looking at the body of work that is posted in the interview.  Be sure to start your week off right with this candid look into Jeff’s approach to wedding photography.  Nice job Crash!

♦ For those of you that have been itching to get out on your next photowalk, here’s the scoop on a couple of upcoming events. The first full weekend in March is gong to serve up, not one, but two photowalks for those in the National Capitol Region.

First, on March 7th, DC base photographer Shawn Duffy is going to host a night-time photowalk in Washington DC.  The photowalk will actually take place on both sides of the Potomac River.  You’re going to need your tripod for this walk that travels from Arlington, across the Memorial Bridge, around the Lincoln Memorial, and back to Arlington again.  For all the details, head to Shawns blog (click here).

Next, photographer Geoff Greene will be hosting his photowalk on March 8th in historic Fredericksburg, VA.  The walk will begin down by the Rappahannock River and then travel through the streets of old Fredericksburg, including the train station.  For all the information, including a map of the route, head to Geoff’s photowalk Flickr page (click here).

♦ Looking at the calendar, it’s hard to believe that Photoshop World will be rolling around in just over a month.  This Spring’s show will be in Boston (hopefully without the snow that we got last time it was there).  This year’s line-up promises to be very cool, with the addition of a full Lightroom track.  That means you could go to every day of the training conference and get Lightroom training during every training block.  How cool is that?  If you are on the fence, you might want to consider registering in the next couple of days before the $100 discount expires (I think it’s good through Feb. 20th).  Head to the Photoshop World site for all the details plus a link to the daily Photoshop World blog (click here).

♦ Finally, if you happen to live in the DC area and you won’t be able to get to Boston for the show, then you will want to mark Friday, May 8th on your calendar.  My buddy Scott Kelby will be making a stop at the DC Convention Center with his Down & Dirty Tricks tour.  Scott’s newest incarnation of the best selling Down & Dirty Tricks book will be headed to the presses in the next few days and if you haven’t ever seen his class by the same name, you are in for a treat.  It’s always one of my “can’t miss” sessions at Photoshop World.  For information on this class and all the other scheduled stops on the tour, check out the Seminar page over at Kelby Training (click here).

That’s all for today.  Enjoy the rest of your holiday and I’ll see you back here tomorrow.
