Another Friday, which means I have some things for you to check out while you surf the web this weekend.
♦ Jason Lee is a very creative and talented photographer who was inspired by a Strobist post about photographing your kids. He began photographing his children but in a creative, not your everyday kid picture sort of way. I envy people like Jason that have such creativity. Here’s a link to his great series of images.
♦ For all of you Canon 5D owners that are contemplating the move up to the 5D MarkII, you need to check out this incredibly thorough article by Ben Long over at Complete Digital Photography. It’s actually so in-depth that it couldn’t be contained in just one blog post. Here’s the link to part 1 and part 2.
♦ Have you ever seen a 6.2 Gigapixel image? I’m talking about 112,794 X 55,100 pixels. Now that’s freaking huge, and it’s what you will see when you check out this work by Julian Kalmar. Viewed in a Zoomify window, the panorama image has so much detail that it boggles the mind. Here’s the link to his latest image of Tokyo and click here to see his other Gigapixel works.
♦ Okay, here is something that everyone who owns some nice camera bling should check out. It’s called RegisterYourCamera.com. If any of your camera gear is stolen, you can enter the serial numbers at this site and then prospective buyers can search to see if the gear they are thinking about buying is actually hot. If someone does get a stolen hit, they can contact you and let you know where your gear is. I haven’t tried it out yet but I think that in this era of eBay wheeling and dealing, it’s a pretty good idea. You can check it out here.
♦ Finally, I was checking out A Photo Editor when I saw this fascinating video. It’s by Israeli photographer Eyal Landesman who created a stop-motion video from what appears to be several thousand images. Very cool indeed.
That’s a wrap for this week. I hope that you have a fantastic SuperBowl weekend!
