While poking around the net yesterday I happened upon some news about a fairly new HDR program called HDR MAX which has been developed by a company called Ariea. It is an interesting approach to the HDR process because it doesn’t require multiple steps to get to the real fun stuff, the tone mapping. It actually looks more like Photoshop than most HDR programs and is very intuitive in its design and function. I haven’t had a lot of time to really put it through its paces (I did just download it yesterday after all). Once I have had a chance to give it a full evaluation I will share my findings with you. Here’s what I can tell you. The program is available for both Mac and PC. It is available to try, free for 30 days. The price is $150 US. I don’t know much more beyond that except that if you want to download it and give it a spin, you can use it to enter their contest to win a 15″ MacBook Pro computer. So check out the software downloads here, and find out more about the contest here.
