♦ – Just in case you missed it, the good folks over at 1001 Noisy Cameras have posted their 2008 Reader’s Choice Digital Camera Awards.  The field was broken into several categories that include 35mm Full Frame DSLR, Enthusiast DSLR, Affordable DSLR, and a full slate of point and shoot models.  If you are in the market for a digital camera for Christmas this year, you should stop by and see how they ranked (click here).  You can also check out their review section to get a full breakdown of this year’s popular models at their site (DSLRs here, compact models here).

♦ – Speaking of Christmas shopping, my friends over at Vertus have emailed to let me know that you can now purchase the award winning Fluid Mask 3 for $50 off the retail price of $199. That’s right, for a limited time, you can pick up one of the best knock-out applications for Photoshop that I have ever seen.  To pick up your copy of Fluid Mask 3 for the new low price of $149, head on over to the Vertus site by clicking here.

Okay, that’s a pretty good deal but here’s something for my blog readers.  If you call Mornee Sherry at Vertus at 1-877-440-8787, and order over the phone, you can knock an extra $20 off the price.  That’s right, just $129!  By the way, if you are using Photoshop CS4, you might have noticed that the Extract filter is no longer a part of the program.  If you do a lot of cutting, pasting, and compositing, this software will certainly fill the void.  Just so you know, I don’t get anything from your purchase, I just really love this software and it is an integral part of my Photoshop workflow.

♦ - Dave Cross, one of the Photoshop Guys, has sent a call out to the blogosphere for photos that need fixing.  Dave is writing a new book called Fixing With Photoshop and he’s on the hunt for images that are in need of some digital first aid.  I think this is a great approach, where readers submit their own pictures to see how they can be brought back to life by one of the all-time great Photoshop talents.  For more information, head over to Dave’s blog.  As an aside, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to Dave and his family for the loss of Dave’s father this week.  Please keep the Cross family in your thoughts as they work through this difficult time.

♦ – Well, it didn’t take long for wedding photographer extraordinaire, David Ziser, to get his hands on the new Canon 5D Mark II and do some great stuff with it.  Dave, and his friend Kent Smith put together a great video montage that will get you thinking about new ways to incorporate video into your photography.  Check out the video and then head on over to David’s blog for the whole rundown on the project as well as his first impressions of the 5D.
