My First Experience With Photomatix Pro 3.1 (beta)

Here’s a couple of shots I took this past weekend while helping my son out with a homework project.  He had to get some pictures from around the community so I took the opportunity to grab my camera and shoot some quick bracket shots.  I didn’t have a lot of time to shoot so all of my shots were hand held.  I shot in Continuous-Low mode and had the camera set to fire a 5-stop exposure bracket from -2 to +2.  I only used 3 exposures for the HDR, selecting the +2, -2, and normal exposures.  I tried taking the images into Photomatix using the new Lightroom plug-in but I just like the HDR image alignment a little better using Photoshop.  I’m sure that if I had been shooting on a tripod that I would have gotten better results from the Photomatix alignment.  The rest of the process was pretty standard tonemapping.  Once done, I was able to import the new version back into Lightroom and then do some additional processing.  Here’s the final results. Any big changes in Photomatix? I’m on 3.0, and haven’t played with the beta yet.

The sky is extremely cool in the first photo!
