♦ The other day when I wrote about how I still use the Bridge I received a question from one of my readers concerning the transition from Bridge to Lightroom. He actually had a couple of questions which I am sure many long-time Bridge users have pondered as they decide whether or not to switch to Lightroom. The first question concerned metadata and keywording. If you have spent long hours keywording and appending metadata using Bridge, you can rest easy as you migrate to Lightroom. The Lightroom import process carries over all of that valuable information, making it just as easy (if not easier) to find all of your images using keyword or metadata searches.
The second question had to do with the physical location of images that will be imported into Lightroom. If you have already imported your images to folders and sub-folders on your hard drive, there is no need to relocate them as they are added to your Lightroom catalog. During the import process, you will be presented with several choices as to how you want Lightroom to handle your files. If they are already in the location that you want them to be in, simply select Add files to catalog without moving. This will import your images without moving them to a new folder location.
Also, if you have images that are stored within sub-folders, you don’t have to worry about importing each sub-folder one at a time. Just point the import process to the parent folder and Lightroom will find all of your images within all of the sub-folders. Adobe really has done a great job of making the transition of existing files a breeze and if you had these concerns, you can rest easy if you decide to take the Lightroom plunge.
A NEW SITE FOR INSPIRATION
♦ If you read my blog with any frequency then you have probably heard me mention the photography of Crash Taylor. His phenomenal wedding photography just blows me away. Well, Crash dropped me an email to let me know about a new project that he just launched and I think that you will really want to check this out. His new site is dedicated to interviewing professional photographers from around the world. I checked out the site and what I really like is the addition of very large images provided by the photographers being interviewed (the photographers are asked to show some of their favorite recent images and they are great).
The site will also feature a subscriber Bi-monthly photography contests on a chosen theme with great prizes to be won by the winner, subscriber Image of week, workshops that don’t cost a fortune, and much more to come. To catch some of the inspiring imagery and words from these great interviews click here or check out the link in my Blogroll entitles Photographer Interviews.
Great work Crash, count me in as a dedicated subscriber!

I made the switch to Lightroom last year. Very happy to have done it, and I’m not looking back. Importing to it was a snap last July, and I carried over everything I’d already processed prior to the switch.
Just got my Lightroom 2 book, and I’m now learning about the latest additions. Just a great program!
