Well gang, after weeks of planning, the World Wide Photowalk is finally upon us. I am extremely excited to be hosting, not one, but two walks. I was just answering a comment about which lenses to bring when the thought occurred to me that I will be able to shoot with two different setups, how cool is that? Here is something else that is pretty cool. Scott sent me some stats this evening and the numbers are truly astounding.
- Number of people signed up – Over 7500
- Number of countries – 45
- Number of States hosting walks – 44
- Number of cities – 236
When Scott Kelby first told me about his idea for launching his Lightroom 2.0 book, we never imagined that this event would take on steam and evolve into what it has. If you are going to be walking with us this weekend I think it is safe to say that you will be involved in a first of its kind event that I hope will not be the last of its kind.
The other aspect of the photowalk that really amazes me is that it has been spread mostly via the efforts of the Internet photography community. I don’t believe that there would ever have been a way to get something like this off the ground without all of the bloggers and emailers and websites that have truly pulled the photographic community together to make this happen.
Well, that’s it for this Friday. You know what I’ll be doing all weekend. If you’re coming to one of my walks, drive safe and I’ll see you there.
