Actually, it’s not for me, it’s for a member of our armed services that was on one of my Alexandria Photowalks.  See, his only Internet access is through a military terminal and like most government connections, his access to Flickr is blocked.  This is his only Internet access and he would really like to upload his images before the Midnight deadline.  So if any of you know of a way for him to upload without actually visiting Flickr, please let me know by adding a comment to this post.

Thanks

If the person is still in the US, it should be real easy to find a kinkos or some other place with an internet connection, or a friend who will let him use theirs.

If he happens to have been deployed since the walk:

    1. Find someone he can trust to email them to along with the password to his account.

    2. Find an internet cafe at lunch (obviously, that depends on where he is physically at the moment).

  2. Geoff says:

I believe he can e-mail them to his Flickr account which should get around the block.

However, how he’ll be able to get around adding them to the Flickr pool is a tricky wicket as it’s something you can only do from the Flickr page (be a nice feature to add to the Flickr Uploader to add directly to groups but…).

Course, he could give his username/pass to a trusted friend to do it for him after he’s uploaded them via e-mail.

Other than e-mail, dunno. Snail mail to a friend? :)

He could upload them to an online storage service, and then have someone he trusts with his passwords load them to flicker from there.

I’m wondering if there is an online java application that might let him upload without having to go to Flickr.

  5. Geoff says:

    Something like this Jeff?

Flickr Uploader (1.0) From BigHugeLabs. Haven’t used it myself.

He’d probably have to give a 3rd party app permission from Flickr though.

Geoff is right. He may be able to upload them somehow – don’t know if it’s possible without signing in to Flickr – but there’s no way of adding them to the Photo Walk group without him being on Flickr.

But…since nobody knows everything….I’ll check back and see if someone has cracked through. :)

    Hey Nate-
A few of the folks on our photowalk don’t yet have flickr accounts, so the fellow who hosted our walk is posting them on their behalf. They just emailed their photo to someone willing to post for them. A note went below the photo to give credit to the photographer. Easy peasy.

    Jeff,

If he can download an eval of Lightroom 2 there is a Flicker export plug-in (free) that will do the trick.

    Jeff,

Another thought. I have relatively unlimited bandwidth (8 Mps). If he can zip up the images, email them to me and give me the Flicker group info, I’ll post them under his name.
