Well, it took me a couple of hours but I was finally able to narrow my choice down to two images. It was not an easy task and I was really torn between several images from each group. This is the first time that I have ever judged photographs and had to select a winner and I certain don’t envy Scott Kelby his task of selecting one from all the individual winners. So let’s get on with my picks.
As you know, I hosted a morning and an afternoon photowalk and each group had many wonderful photos. I watched all of the images come into the group photo pool over the past few days and this one caught my eye from the first time I saw it. As I kept approving more and more photos, I kept coming back to this one by photographer Mark Anderson. Mark’s use of framing and post-processing were some of the key elements that really made this image stand out for me.
You can see more of Mark’s great photography at his website, Mark Anderson Photography.
My afternoon group was no less challenging. While I wish I could have selected more than one winner, I finally narrowed it down to this image by Carol McFarland. I was taken by the sweet innocence of the little girl looking out across the water. Sometimes a photo will just grab you and that’s what this one did for me.
Carol specializes in calligraphy and she has a website to display her products. You can check it out by clicking this link.
Once again, I would like to thank everyone that came out and shared their time and good cheer at my two photowalks. Each and everyone of you made it a very special day and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with you. Perhaps tomorrow I can show you a few of my honorable mentions.
PS – Carol and Mark, you need to check your email for a message from me so we can get you your copy of Scott’s Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2 Book for Digital Photographers
