A Few More Of My Favorites

I was talking with Scott Kelby last night about all of the great winning photos and just how hard it was for me to pick one winner from each group.  Of course he has the unenviable task of having to select one from all of the winning entries.  The funny thing about judging images is that it is so personal.

Many of you may have looked at the group photos and perhaps came away with completely different choices than I did.  That’s the thing about photography.  You see something that you believe would look like a great image.  You carefully compose your shot and select your exposure.  Finally, you process your image to complete your vision.  When you are done, you hopefully have a photograph that expresses your feelings and thoughts in a 2-dimensional representation that may or may not be seen the same way by someone else.

Photography is an expression of personal vision which is why I find it so hard to judge the vision of others.  The important thing however is not how I or anyone else judges your vision, it’s how you feel that really counts.

So here’s a few more images from last Saturday that really made my choice so hard.

Dock Lamps

LR2 Worldwide Photowalk

A Harbor in a Storm

Alexandria (14 of 38)

Freedom

235/366 Americana

Alex WWP-116

And what about my vision?  Well, I didn’t have much time to shoot but here is what I came away with.

By the way, the shot of the birds taking flight was taken by my 9 year old son, Alex.  Daddy is sooo proud :-)

I really like the B&W boat shot. Very nice. This wasn’t easy and I don’t know if I want to judge again – not without more criteria next time. Everyone took amazing shots!
