Sports Illustrated photo shoot

If you would like a little insight into the setup used by photographer Randall Grant during his swimsuit shoot with race car driver Danica Patrick, follow this link.  You’ll have to get past about 20 or so shots of Danica in her bikini but I’m sure you can make it.  Half way through the images are behind the scenes shots of how they lit the scene as well as a little glimpse at the equipment used.  I was actually a little surprised at how simple the setup really was.  You know what they say, it’s the simple things in life that bring happiness.  As for how you actually get Randall’s job?  If I knew that, I wouldn’t be sitting here typing this :-)

OK is it just me or were those pictures really boring. Did he move his camera at all. They also looked like some weak exposures. I’m not one to critisize but they looked ameturish. Danica is beautiful but the shots weren’t. I’m still jealous that I wasn’t the photog but for an SI shoot they were lacking.
    just my humble opinion.

guys I am a photograph here to tell you you have no clue. yes I can understand how you think “how hard could it be” its just a digital camera, lights and a laptop. well let me tell you what you see here is only a small part of the battle. there is tons to do before and after to make it happen. and as far as the gear you see being used, there is more than meets the eye. if you forget something of the smallest detail the whole thing could be over before you’ve even started. remember just because you have digital camera and photoshop doesn’t mean you know how to be a photographer…
