This past Sunday I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Scott Sherman for his Digital Photography Show podcast, part of the podcast network. Scott, who is local to the DC area, talked to me for about 45 minutes and we covered quite a wide array of subjects; from my 10 Places to Photograph Before I Die post, to HDR, to photowalking, and a lot of other things in between. It was a lot of fun for me and I really appreciate Scott taking time to call me up and for highlighting me on this week’s episode. Now if I could just get the word “absolutely” out of my vocabulary, I would be a happy guy. Ever notice how you can get stuck on a word and overuse it without really knowing it. I didn’t realize how much I said “absolutely” during our interview until I listened to it today. I haven’t tallied it up yet but, before you send me comments about how I wore it out, trust me, I know.
Other than that, I thought it was pretty good and as I said, we covered a lot of ground. If you haven’t ever heard the show, I highly recommend it. It is one of the highest rated photography podcasts around and Scott, along with his co-host, Michael Stein, do a great job of covering all the hot topics in photography today including cameras, software, techniques, and well, you name it. The show is available as a subscription download via iTunes or you can listen right on their web page. You can get to the page by clicking here or look for the link over to the right in my blogroll.
Thanks again Scott for being such a great host and making me feel comfortable during the interview. I like to talk but doing it for a recorded show is another thing all together.
On a seperate subject, I would like to give a big thanks to Jeremy Hall who pointed out to me that I had uploaded yesterday’s HDR processing example image with a ProPhoto color profile assigned to it. ProPhoto is a fairly new color space to work in and has a larger gamut than Adobe RGB. It is my default space when I bring images into Photoshop from Camera Raw. The only problem is that the images that I process in ProPhoto should be converted to sRGB before I upload them to the web since sRGB is the default color space for many web browsers. I have since corrected this problem in yesterday’s image so it should look a little better now then it did when I first posted it. I’ll try not to forget that one in the future.
That’s all for today, I’m hanging out with my kids and playin’ some Wii so have a great day and I’ll see you back here tomorrow.

Hey Jeff,
Congrats on the DPS interview! Very informative stuff you had there on HDR and the Photo Walks. Funny thing about it, when Scott and Michael first teased your interview on their show, I shared some stuff I had put together too. It sounds like y’all had the same ideas too. In any case, thought you might be interested in the Ten Tips for a Successful Photo Walk post I made over at my blog, dated 2-21.
Also, on the HDR, I read a really good tutorial in one of the more popular forums, Fred Miranda, and that was really helpful too Overall, the same ideas, but good to have a digital copy to reference. Keep up the great work and shots you’re sharing – I need to start sharing more shots myself!
