Let’s wrap it up for the weekend
Yesterday I wrote about a Photoshop action called the Draganizer. I received a comment from Johan that clued me into the origins of the look that the action was trying to emulate. The Draganizer is named for photographer Andrzej Dragan. Adnrzej was born and raised in Poland. He is a composer and also has a PhD in Quantum Physics. He started shooting in 2003 and his photographic works have earned him numerous awards including Photographer of the year in Digital Camera Magazine (UK). Speaking of Photoshop Actions (we were speaking about them, right?) Brian Auer had a nice tutorial over at Epic Edits on how to create your own Photoshop Actions. Actions can be amazing tools for automating those repetitive tasks you perform in Photoshop and if you aren’t using them, especially because they just really intimidated you, head on over and check out Brian’s tutorial. It’s guaranteed to make your processing life a little easier.
DC Photowalk News – If you were planning on coming out to the photowalk planned for this Saturday in Adams Morgan and are now having second thoughts due to the weather, I just have one thing to say – you are probably smarter than me! Fear not though, because I will be planning future walks in the DC area so you will get another chance at it with hopefully better weather. Now, for those of you crazy individuals like myself that are planning on suffering for your art, I will still be sticking with the plan to be at the Metro stop at 12 Noon. Please dress appropriately and don’t forget to bring those plastic bags for your cameras. Just in case you haven’t seen the weather report, they are calling for occasional rain, heavy at times, with increasing winds and highs in the mid-40′s. Don’t you just love Spring in DC? See you there. If you’re not discouraged by the weather report and want to come hang with a bunch of wet camera jockeys, check out the Flickr Group or my past post for more information.
And finally, Jason Moore has written a review of Scott Kelby’s The Digital Photography Book, Vol 2 over at his site, Jason D. Moore Photography. Jason wrote a great review that explains just what the book is about and why you should buy it. Did I happen to mention that I helped Scott shoot some of the studio stuff for the book and that I actually make an appearance on a few of the pages? But don’t let that deter you from buying it, it’s still a great read and extremely educational. Head on over to Jason’s blog and check out his review and while you are there, make sure you poke around the rest of the blog. Jason has a feature called Photoshop & Photography Blogger Profiles where he has interview type questions answered by some of the biggest names in the photo blogosphere (once again, don’t let the fact that I am included in the list deter you from checking it out. Jason was apparently hard-up for a blogger profile one week and had to settle for me) Nice work Jason.
