I am finally back home from Vegas.  In fact I just got back about an hour ago.  I took the red-eye home after watching the SuperBowl with my buddies in our usual suite at the Sahara.  So seeing as I am functioning on about 3 hours of sleep from last night/this morning, I am going to make this a short post.

If you had been reading the blog at all the past week, you know that I was in Las Vegas for the PMA tradeshow.  Well, all work and no play means nothing good for the blog so I took some time this weekend and drove out to Red Rock Canyon.  I have to admit that I have driven out there before but never really saw anything that interested me photographically.  I enjoy the mountains and love the terrain but I never really saw anything that just screamed to be photographed.  So this time, I paid my $5 and drove the scenic 13 mile drive through the conservation area.  But instead of scouting from the drive, I decided to park the car and hit one of the trails into the canyon.  It was about an hour hike into Ice Box Canyon but it was so worth it.  I have found that you really can’t get a flavor for this place from the car, you have to get out and hit the trails.  I saw some great scenery including small streams, ice falls, and even the occasional climber.  I can’t wait until the next time I have to go to the Las Vegas area, I already have my next canyon hike planned out.

If you are looking for part II of my HDR tutorial, don’t worry, it will be online by tomorrow.  Until then, here are a couple of shots from Ice Box Canyon.
