I have received a lot of great feedback on the planned photowalk for Washington DC on March 8th. A common suggestion for the location is Adams Morgan. Adams Morgan is a culturally diverse neighborhood in Northwest Washington, D.C., centered at the intersection of 18th Street NW and Columbia Road NW. Adams Morgan is considered the heart of Washington’s Latino community, and is a major night life area with many bars and restaurants, particularly along 18th Street, the main commercial street. Much of the neighborhood is composed of 19th- and early 20th-century row houses and apartment buildings. If anyone has any information or suggestions about this location, please comment here or in the DC Photowalk Flickr group. I am curious to find out if there is a Metro stop that services the area that would make it easier for everyone to get there. As for the date, I am going to go with Mark Anderson’s suggestion and lock in March 8th as the definite date. I haven’t received any word that that particular date is not workable so I’m making it official so that everyone can go ahead and circle it on their calendar. Thanks to everyone that has responded so far. This is shaping up to be a great event.

I live near Adams Morgan and find it a wonderful place to photograph. The business area is quirky and colorful: imaginative facades and signs. The architecture in the residential area has many hidden gems. There are even a few pleasant small parks.
Although there is no direct Metro stop in Adams Morgan, it is served by a ride-on bus that operates between 2 Metro Stops: Woodley Park (Red line) and U Street (Green line) stations .
However, Adams Morgan is very walkable from the Woodley Park station. En route, Calvert Street crosses over Rock Creek Park and there are several photo vantage points from the bridge. Also, I think that maybe the photo shown above was taken on Calvert Street as it nears Adams Morgan business area.
I would be happy to accompany the group and point out some of the more colorful area.
