If you have poked through my blog or visited my Favorites section you will probably deduce that I am partial to landscape and nature photography. There are a ton of resources out in the wired world to help improve your skills if you too like the birds and trees. I am listing a couple here that deserve your attention.

Nature Photographers Online Magazine is a great resource with articles, forums, product reviews, user galleries, a gear shop, and even a critique section to get feedback from fellow readers. I can easily waste an hour or two looking through the galleries and articles.

The Luminous Landscape has been around for years and is an unbelievable resource for training and information. They have a huge series of articles under the heading of The Understanding Series which covers topics from aspect ratios to color management. This is not a blog page but more of an online magazine filled with feature-rich content. Set aside a huge chunk of time to make it through everything on this site.

If you want to plan a landscape photography trip and want more information on where to go and what to see, you might want to point your browser at American Landscape Photography. The site contains travel guides, articles and travel resources. It’s like a brochure for the landscape photographer. As a side note, it is very heavily slanted to shooting in the West, especially in Arizona but that’s not a bad thing if that’s where you are going.

NatureScapes is another one of those fantastic sites that makes you want to grab a backpack and your camera bag and just jet off to some exotic location. Another magazine style site, NatureScapes offers great articles, forums, portfolios, and so much more. If you are interested in workshops they have a number of listed workshops from around the world. NatureScapes.net members get discounts on the workshops up to $75.00.

If you have been to Photoshop World, then you have probably seen Moose Peterson, if you watch PhotoshopUser TV or read Scott Kelby’s blog then you are probably familiar with Moose’s Digital Landscape Workshop Series (DLWS). If you aren’t familiar with anything I am saying, then you need to get on over to Moose’s site. Inside you will find great articles, equipment reviews about the stuff Moose is using, biological tips for photographing various types of wildlife, general photography tips, information about the workshops, and more. Moose also puts out a journal that you can subscribe to called the BT Journal that is in its 12th year of publication. It is produced quarterly and mailed to your house and is worth every penny, but only if you want to take great nature and landscape photos.

That’s enough homework for this weekend. I hope that you find something useful in these sites and more importantly, that you put it to good use. Have a great weekend.
